Maintenance links the physical processes of maintaining the serviceability of key operational resources to their costs of ownership and costs of operation managed in other areas of the system. It incorporates the concepts of planned, unplanned and predictive maintenance. It combines task effects and equipment criticality ratings to determine safety priorities and resource allocation. It provides the basis for performance analysis in the following key functional areas;
