Activa Asset Management was conceived as a first-class financial and operationally based business solution that also fills the gaps left between the business activities by mainstream ERP systems. Our objective has always been to provide the business manager with timely, accurate and wholly accessible intelligence for decision making. This objective is brought into focus in our approach to system architecture wherein each process contributes to this business intelligence at the transaction level without compromise. Activa Pty Limited is an Australian, owned and operated software, company based in Sydney and specializing in asset management software solutions and the associated business consulting and application support services. The company was founded in Tasmania in 1988 and has been successfully marketing its software and services to businesses internationally for 23 years.


Anthony Spake is a founding director of Activa Pty Limited and was educated at Taunton's Grammar School in Southampton, King Edward VII Nautical College in London and post graduate studies in transport statistics and economics at Macquarie University in Sydney.

He has extensive commercial and industrial experience in the oil industry, firstly as a merchant navy deck officer, then in petroleum and petrochemical refining, distribution, logistics and marketing operations.

He has held senior management positions in Distribution and General Management in both London and Sydney and worked as a management consultant and business analyst to the Australian subsidiaries of Jardine Matheson and the Swire Group. Anthony has managed and directed Activa software products since their inception.

I have seen the transition from manual record keeping to data processing and then to modern business process optimisation and it has been a relatively short one. Prompted by government regulation, economic pressures and increasing market competition, this continually evolving environmental transition increased the need for reliable operational data.

What was once a simple aspiration to understand and analyse business processes has developed into a compelling need to optimise performance and profitability in order to gain or retain market edge. Fortunately, IT technology has more than kept pace with the imaginative needs and demands of business, creating the means to actually achieve the previously unachievable.

Modern successful businesses are dependent upon good information. The availability of quality data depends in turn upon establishing the most appropriate and efficient business systems and processes. It is easy to be misled.
