Multi Lingual

Foreign language solutions

A solution that lets you see menus, functions and field titles in the local language to simplify international deployment.

Foreign language solutions

Activa Asset Management foreign language solutions can currently be supplied in English [5 different regions, US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand], Simplified Chinese and Thai with full statutory and tax compliance to local requirements.

We will be adding to these options in the future with French, German, Italian, Spanish, Malay, Arabic and other language options as we progressively incorporate the necessary language translations and the tax legislation for the countries concerned.

If you operate internationally, administrate centrally and maintain applications in local currency and local languages then this is the asset management solution for you.

Single language solutions

In the case of a single language system with one or more databases there are no additional software requirements as the user PC workstation, application server computer and SQL Server computer will be operating with the appropriate Regional Settings for the local language.

System specific settings for date, time and local currency can be easily configured to match the correct country settings.

Multi lingual solutions

Due to limitations of most Microsoft operating environments, multi lingual solutions require that individual languages operate through individual application servers configured with the appropriate Regional Settings as a default.

Activa will operate efficiently in this configuration using a multi-database Microsoft SQL Server 2005+ installation with at least one databases per language. Such a configuration permits simultaneous access for all languages through a common database portal thus maintaining overall centralised administration and full concurrent license sharing.

We are in the process of testing the Microsoft Server 2003 operating system with the Microsoft MUI [Multi lingual user interface] add-on component to determine if this provides a suitable solution to the current language limitations in the application server operating environment.

Language presentation

In an individual database, all data is naturally stored and displayed in the 'local' language and currency formats. However, as part of a multi-lingual system, users with a multi-national responsibility who are not familiar with particular languages can access 'foreign' data through system menus and field literals that are displayed in their own language.

The limitation to this capability at this time is that it can only be achieved with one unicode and one non-unicode language at a time and not with two non-unicode languages such as Chinese and Thai.

Licensing

Single language systems are supplied without any impost on licensing costs regardless of the language. Additional languages are available at an additional 10% of the base system software licensing cost.
