What is Activa asset management?
Clever asset management software products that give you a positive advantage in running your business.
"Every thing that you do in business is part of a process that has impact on the performance of that business. Every business process can be measured, analyzed, improved and leveraged in some way to contribute more effectively to your success. Activa helps you to achieve this.
'Asset management' as a discipline is a series of closely related business processes that every company is involved in, in one way or another; some do it very well whilst others hardly do it at all. Every company does it to some degree.
At Activa, we understand these processes and how they often under-perform. We develop good software alternatives so that anybody can take advantage of them and do a good job. We then go one step further and create special tools that you can use to raise the performance standards and manage your business exceptionally well."

Our focus is essentially on best practice and risk analysis; it is very much about the processes, the quality of data and the internal controls. We seek to enhance the management policies and more specifically the IT systems put in place by management to make sure that these processes work.

Where practical, we have incorporated generic functionality to deliver integrated solutions for tax reporting for Australia, New Zealand, the United States and China. Where more specific local regulations require special treatment we have applied special functionality to provide a very high compliance capability.

All Activa solutions are based on a core of system software tools and the powerful Activa fixed assets register functionality.
This base specification is a COMPLETE fixed assets register solution in its own right.
AT ANY TIME it can also be seamlessly integrated with any number of very smart, scalable, but optional, value added features to achieve your precise outcomes. Most of these OPTIONAL functions are discussed throughout this web site.
At the very least, Activa it is a robust, high performance, functionally rich, life-cycle, fixed assets register software solution suitable for organisations of any size, in any industry group. Fully optioned, it is the complete asset management solution.

Catering to small, medium and large diversified corporations, a modular specification means that you can achieve a low-cost, entry level, fixed assets register, or the ultimate enterprise solution, with a phased implementation and specifically tailored functionality to meet your own very specialised business needs.
Activa software performs equally as well on a stand-alone workstation as it does in a full, enterprise-wide, network environment and interfaces to a huge range of other financial systems including SAP, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, Sage, AccPac, Oracle, Sun Account and many more.
Licensing is determined on a module per user basis making it extremely economical and cost-effective to implement. This simply means you only license the functions you need.
The main system modules other than the core Fixed Assets Register are Finance and Operating Contracts, Sales and Revenue Contracts, CapEx and OpEx Budgeting, Work in Progress, Requisitioning and Physical Audit. Upcoming releases through 2011 are Maintenance Scheduling and Performance Analysis, including a number of web enabled options for PDA and desktop.

In addition to the main system modules referred to in the chart above, the Fixed Assets Register has a number of value-added options to expand its scope and functionality to meet more specialised needs and application. These options are;
- General Ledger Interface
- Revaluations and Impairment Adjustments
- Bulk Units of Use
- Concessional Deductions
- Divestment Modelling*
- Activa Mobile, [Mobile Transaction Processing]
- PDA Bar Code Audit, Data Logging and Stocktake Audit
- Multi- database systems
- Joint Venture Accounting*
- Multi- Lingual
- Multi currency with FX Reporting*
Historically, we followed a fairly rigid licensing model whereby an additional concurrent license for one module meant an additional license fee for all other currently licensed modules. Whilst this was a standard industry approach it was less cost-effective and naturally flowed through to higher annual support fees.
In 2006, changes applied to the license model and the application specification were designed to permit the user to specify the number of individual module licenses on the basis of their actual need. This came with the option for current users to reassess their current license profile, if required.
Importantly, it allowed us to separate the more specialised system functions from the core modules and to rebrand them as individual product options in their own right. This, in turn, allowed us to make the product base pricing lower and therefore more cost-effective and competitive.

Broader specifications, greater functionality, more intelligent processes and diminishing returns in an increasingly competitive market place are the realities of software development today.
To improve overall cost-effectiveness for new users and to simplify the transition from old software to new software we are introducing Implementation Wizards to supplement the already extensive system import/export options. These are designed to empower all users to configure and populate their own systems with the minimum of support from us.
Implementation tools will guide system administrators through each process step by step ensuring that each option is configured before moving on to the next. These changes echo the principle of least action and translate to real cost savings. They also work as a training medium to build user skill levels in understanding the tools for future changes to system configuration and maintenance.

Although Activa operates independently, it communicates with other core business systems at a number of different levels for both input and output. These include;
- General ledger interface
- Accounts payable interface
- API - application program interface
- Back office systems
- System wide data export
- Specialised data import tools
More specialised fixed asset management systems are becoming increasingly necessary and therefore more prevalent in the light of the greater emphasis placed on regulation, reporting standards and compliance generally. This in turn places the need for a higher degree of specialisation and expertise in the development and support of such systems.
The 'one-stop-shop ERP' may have some perceived processing benefits but these are usually offset by a technically inferior 'fit', expensive base costs, a high level of third-party consulting expertise necessary to support it and the continuing need to maintain external processes to supplement inferior processes. This is particularly the case in the SMB market where the overall IT systems implementation costs are far more critical to the product selection decision making process.
We base our application development objectives on worlds' best practice and match this with the technology, depth of experience and the skills required to support it. After the initial implementation process, the support requirement for our new clients is relatively low. As an organisation we are able to devote considerably more day to day resources to providing value-added services and product enhancements than to dealing with a demand for product support and this also contributes to a more effective solution.

Activa software is designed for use with all Microsoft operating systems from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7 and from Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008 R2. It uses a Microsoft SQL Server 2005, 2008 or 2008 R2 relational database and will operate with SQL 2008 Express. It is configured as a three-tier application comprising client executable, a server executable that is accessible by LAN, WAN or internet. The main application is designed as a core back-office system and operates efficiently in a ‘terminal services’ environment such as Citrix.
We are progressively releasing new and existing key processes with a browser access to expand the functional deployment options for management and operational personnel. This is in line with other development initiatives to expand the base functionality.
